How the air pole works
A long pole carries air from a compressor up to the roof. At the top, the air is directed under and across the tiles to loosen moss and blow it clear. Because the work is done from below, there is no weight on your tiles, ridge or valleys, and no risk of cracking brittle slate underfoot.
We collect the moss that comes off and clear it away, so you are not left with clumps across your garden or path.
Suited to Belfast roofs
Red-brick terraces across the city often have slate roofs that are now well over a hundred years old. Larger period homes in the leafy suburbs tend to sit under mature trees, which shade the roof and keep it damp. Post-war and newer semis usually have concrete tiles, where moss builds up thickly in the grooves. The air pole handles all of these without needing to stand on the roof.
Biocide treatment available
Once the moss is off, we can apply a biocide treatment if it suits your roof. This helps deal with the spores and growth that are left behind. We will tell you on your quote whether we think it is worth including, so you can decide.
When pressure washing is used
Air-pole cleaning is our main roof method, but we will use pressure washing where and when it is needed, for example on some surfaces around the house. We will always explain which method we plan to use and why before we start.
What to send us
A few photos of each roof slope, your postcode and a note of anything awkward about access are the most useful things. Belfast is about an hour from our Omagh base, so these details help us plan the visit and give you an accurate free written quote. You can also call 07814 733 959, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
Frequently asked questions
Do you walk on the roof?
No. The air pole is worked from ground level or a ladder, so nobody needs to stand on your tiles or slates.
Can you clean an old slate roof in Belfast?
Yes. Avoiding foot traffic is one of the main reasons the air pole suits older slate.
Do you clear up the moss?
Yes. We gather the moss that comes off the roof and take it away.
Where are you based?
We are based in Omagh, about an hour from Belfast. We do not have a Belfast office.
