Identify the roof before choosing a method
Tell the cleaner whether the roof is glass, polycarbonate or a solid replacement roof. Those descriptions affect the discussion about brushes, cleaning products and access. If the roof has a specialist coating or a warranty, supply the care instructions instead of assuming an ordinary house-roof cleaning method is suitable.
The air-pole system described elsewhere on this site is the main method for moss on tiled roofs. It should not be taken as an automatic recommendation for conservatory glazing. A proposed conservatory roof cleaning service needs to be assessed against the panels, seals and condition of the structure itself.
Outside cleaning, frames and drainage
External conservatory cleaning may involve more than the roof panels. Ask whether frames, uPVC, decorative trims and the outside faces of gutters are within the proposed scope. Dirt along frame edges and debris in drainage channels are separate from marks on the main panel, so a single phrase can hide quite different jobs.
Conservatory and uPVC cleaning should also take account of adjoining paintwork, brickwork and plants. Note any loose trims, damaged seals or leaks before a visit. Cleaning is not a repair service, and existing faults should not be confused with staining that can be washed away.
Inside and out are separate enquiries
Internal roof glass can be difficult to reach safely around furniture, blinds, fans and light fittings. If you want the inside cleaned, include it in your enquiry and explain any access difficulties. Do not assume an external conservatory cleaning quote includes indoor glass, frames or the floor.
Condensation, dirt on the accessible surface and moisture trapped between panes are not the same problem. Cleaning will not remedy a failed glazing unit or a leaking roof. Describe where the marks appear and whether they change with the weather so the enquiry is directed at the right issue.
Safe access without walking on panels
Do not climb onto conservatory roof panels to inspect or clean them. Access equipment and a safe working position need to be planned around the building. An adjoining house wall, a narrow side passage or a raised garden can make access very different from a clear, level patio.
Take photographs from the ground showing the whole conservatory and the space around it. Include roof height, nearby planting and any awkward corners in your description. Ask how the cleaner proposes to reach the surface and protect nearby items before agreeing to a visit.
What affects conservatory cleaning cost?
Conservatory roof cleaning cost can depend on roof size, material, shape, access and how much frame work is included. An inside-and-out enquiry has a different scope from an outside roof-only clean. Prices cannot be inferred from a photograph of another property or a general UK price list.
For a free written quote, send photos and details to Phil, including your town, the roof material if known and the surfaces you would like cleaned. Include a wider view of the conservatory and a closer view of any marks so the proposed work can be discussed clearly.
Keeping a record of the agreed scope
A useful quote should distinguish the roof panels from frames, gutters and indoor surfaces. Ask what preparation is needed and whether movable furniture or pots should be cleared. Keep manufacturer care information available, particularly for coated glass, tinted panels and specialist roof systems.
If the surrounding patio or rendered house wall also needs attention, those can be discussed as separate existing exterior cleaning services. Combining an enquiry does not mean the same products or pressure should be used on every surface. Each material needs its own decision.
Frequently asked questions
Which parts of a conservatory should I include in my enquiry?
List the roof panels, frames, gutters or indoor glass you would like considered. Each part can need a different approach, and the written quote should explain what is included.
Is conservatory cleaning inside and out included?
Not automatically. Say which indoor and outdoor surfaces you want cleaned so the written quote covers the right areas.
Can I stand on the roof to clean it?
Do not stand on conservatory roof panels. Safe access and suitable equipment need to be planned.
Are conservatory cleaning prices listed here?
No. Size, material, access and the agreed scope need assessment before a price can be given.
