Why render turns green
Render and painted walls hold on to moisture, particularly on the side of the house that gets little sun. In a damp city close to the lough, that moisture lets algae take hold, and walls slowly turn green, black or red in streaks and patches. High pressure can damage render and force water behind it, which is why a gentler method is a better choice.
What we softwash
Softwashing is useful on most surfaces that would not take kindly to a high-pressure jet.
- ✓Rendered and pebble-dashed walls
- ✓Painted masonry
- ✓Fascias, soffits and cladding
- ✓Roofs, where it suits the tiles
How a visit works
We start by looking at the surface and protecting plants and nearby areas where needed. The solution is applied at low pressure and given time to work, then rinsed off gently. Stubborn staining can sometimes take a little longer to fade fully after the visit, and we will let you know if we expect that on your walls.
Combining with other work
Many Belfast customers ask for softwashing alongside a roof clean or gutter clear. As we are travelling about an hour from Omagh, doing the jobs together on one visit often makes sense, and each one is listed separately on your free written quote.

Frequently asked questions
Is softwashing safe for render?
Yes. It uses low pressure and a cleaning solution, so it does not blast the surface like a high-pressure jet.
Will the green staining come off straight away?
Much of it usually does, but some stubborn staining can keep fading after the visit. We will tell you what to expect.
Can you softwash and clean my roof on the same day?
Often, yes. Ask for both and we will set them out separately on your quote.
Do you come from Belfast?
No. We are based in Omagh and travel to Belfast, which is about an hour away.
